Leadership in the business environment always had a focus of interest on the part of academics, entrepreneurs, managers, politicians among others. Leadership can be seen from various fields of application, so an ideal specific type of leadership that can be applied to the company has not been identified. Likewise, diverse authors increasingly recognize the importance of the proper emotion management in the Leader-Follower relationship. This research aims to identify the most relevant aspects of the various types of leadership and emotion management that serve as a conceptual framework to be applied in a context of business competitiveness. Based on a literature review of content analysis type, 100 documents consisting of articles, books and chapters of published books were reviewed, in the period from 1978 to 2019 in the ScienceDirect® database. According to the literature analyzed, four groups of aspects were found in which the leadership and regulation of emotions can impact on business competitiveness. Productivity, efficiency and effectiveness in an organization can be improved when leadership is directed by adequate emotional regulation. This can bring good results that impact the competitiveness of the company especially if a climate of innovation and creativity is maintained through empowerment, motivation and job satisfaction.
